    There were 1,962 households out of which 38.40% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.20% were married couples living together, 7.30% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.50% were non-families. 24.30% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.60% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.22.
    In the county the population was spread out with 25.70% under the age of 18, 8.50% from 18 to 24, 36.00% from 25 to 44, 22.10% from 45 to 64, and 7.80% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 158.80 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 182.10 males.
    The median income for a household in the county was ,540, and the median income for a family was ,112. Males had a median income of ,214 versus ,634 for females.

    The climate is four seasons with annual precipitation between 9 and 12 inches, much of which is contained in snowfall at the higher elevations. Summer days are warm and dry and nights are cool and clear. The winters are mostly clear and quite mild due to abundant sunshine, snow levels usually remaining above 5500 feet. Some consider autumn to be the finest season here with clean mild days and crisp starry nights. This area boasts 300+ days of sunshine each year. A recent air quality study of the western states, made by the National Park Service, indicates that the Northern, Nevada area is located in the exact center of the
